The Transfer Tales

Rather than give my opinion only we shall look at who left and who replaced them, but remember this things aren't always what they seem.

So lets start with Lloris he came in and was not replacing anyone. France's captain and no.1 goalkeeper. This is a MASSIVE coupe and I delighted about it. He has instantly sured up the squad and with him I think we will see a good squad start to build. In defense Vertonghen comes in to replace the legend that is King. Caulker has now shown his worth out on loan and Dawson is staying (although Kaboul is out for 4 months). The two Kyle's on the right have it all covered and we know Benni will fair (but if injured we will not have cover with Rose going out). So defensively we have no complaints other than no cover for Benni and I feel anyone would kill for such a defense.

This is where things get interesting and where the difference of opinions come. Luka Modric left for a record fee, but there was no one in to replace him, Dembele came in and although a great addition he will not fill the void left by Luka. Dembele and Luka are 2 completely different players and those that disagree with the comment (the experts have already said it). So although Luka has not been replaced with different tactics an build up this may not be a bad thing. Next we move on to VDV,another player not replaced as such and he will be sorely missed. Dempsey is who people will say is the replacement for him but different players again. Dempsey scored 17 goals last season and was a bargain so no complaints there. As Dempsey can play as a striker or support man AVB and Levy will feel they have done very well. Now Huddlestone also went out with Harry Kane and that was the last of our notable transfers.

Now if you ask me we did need another midfielder and the "impossible" Moutinho was it. With 2 Marque players going out and none in it is not as a successful market as people think. It has been reported that the ownership was infact the issue. Well that is utter lies. It was released days ago about Moutinho's ownership and as always things were left far too late. It is a poor excuse from Levy and it shows that he had not spent his time as he should yesterday (that's my only gripe). Now this is not to say that I am angry as such with Levy, but disappointed. It was pointed out on SSN last night that Levy has broken even this window, but it's actually that he has made money. So business wise fantastic, but it is not exactly showing the backing we expected without the Moutinho signing it was self generated finance.

To clarify the transfers of recent;

Dembele- £15million

Dempsey-£6million

Lloris-£8million

Van Der Vaart-£10million

Dos Santos-£5million

I think the tactics and build up play (as said earlier) are going to change to show the squads strength. So a different Tottenham this season as we have already seen.

Final points that are needed to highlight, with a huge wholesale change we could end up with an unstable squad (look at QPR 25 purchases in a tear), without a skeleton through the team. Moutinho could have been the change too far, but would you prefer to swap Dembele or Dempsey for him? One good thing is that at least VDV's goals have been replaced and two of our new signings play well together already.

I am looking forward to seeing the new squad and don't expect it against Norwich other than to see Dembele. So guys and gals have a good long hard think about it, it's not as bad or as good as you think rather it's a change and change is a good thing if you get it right.

Come on you Spurs!!
