The truth behind the Adebayor bid

Last updated : 06 August 2012 By Hog

Adebayor was in the States and has held further talks with Levy and AVB. The situation as it stands is that Ade wants to come, but as we all know its at a price. He had requested for City to hand him £4million as a golden hand shake to sweeten the deal, however it is a sticking point. He is expected to drop his demands shortly, but there are also whispers that  he is in fact waiting for his last pay cheque from City.

AVB has said openly that he would like to have Ade in the team and we know that he fits within the squad. There are people that have said that Adebayor has worked hard to get a full time contract offer, but his performance will drop following. I say that its better the devil you know. We could sign Damiao, but he's never even played in Europe. Yes we could bring Allen in from Swansea, but is he really going to move the club forward? My opinion is no. Give him another season and see if he can obtain 15+ goals (but I doubt he will). Unless you are looking at the likes of Huntelaar then its a risk bringing only players outside of europe, we need 1 striker we know we can rely on.

The situation is this though Spurs fans, the Adebayor deal is still bubbling, it is not dead (just dragging). City do not want for him to stay and levy is playing the waiting game, Adebayor although he openly admits that he plays for money, he does not wish to stay on anyone's bench and just collect his pay cheque so some change will come but late in the day.

I hope that its not left too much longer though as someone else may get Adebayor or (should his transfer fail) other clubs take up our other targets.

Come on you Spurs!
