My response is that whilst a cup win could push up the morale, it will be a big mistake. Fixture congestion is a problem leading up to the end of the season and Arsenal have it worse, so why would we make it an issue for ourselves by having further games to play in the cup.
Our league position is vital and lets say Arsenal slip up we have to be able to take advantage and if we have too many games to play our players will be far too tired to take the lead. I do not think that the FA cup is the way forward it would not be silver lining to our season if we do not finish in the top 4, it will cement where the issues are.
The priority is to rest our players for the league and league alone. Their heads have dropped (as seen in the results) and for them to be tired as well will cause further losses. I pay no attention to what the players say or Redknapp says as the FA cup is a complete distraction from the whole point of this season..... Champions League.
Even Rafa has now selfishly jumped up stating that he wants a cup win, but why? Does he not want to play in the Champions League? This makes no sense to me. Lets just slow it down and think about this sensibly. If you want to attract "World Class" players you must play in the Champions League. Once you attract these players you can then build your squad and push for a domestic title. Now if you can win a cup without damaging your main objective then this is great, but you cannot take your eyes off the prize. FA cup is short term success and no building is involved in it.
It is time for the team, management and owners to show a united front. The clubs future is the objective and finishing out of the top 4 is failure and a step backwards. Otherwise we will not attract the players we desperately need and have for years. Redknapp needs to come out and state our priority and that he will be pushing for this, the reason he has not is he is now unsure as to whether he can pull the lads back round to push for back to back wins for the remainder of the season, which in all honesty is not acceptable.
We now have 3 away and 2 home games left and the only thing to guarantee us Champions League is to win the remaining games and looking at our fixtures why is that not possible? In terms of quality my only concern would be Villa, but we should still win our remaining games. QPR, Blackburn, Bolton, Villa and Fulham are the remaining games and on paper we are a far better team then any of those, so expecting back to back wins is not a ridiculous notion.
The chips are now down, last orders has been called and we must now show our worth. We must put the past results behind us and realise we can get 4th and maybe still 3rd. Looking at ours and Arsenal's team only RVP is a standout player that Arsenal have that we don't. Our midfield and goal mouth are much better and both defences are of a similar standard. So in my belief the lads must now show who the top dogs are and that the power is shifting to white, take the game to Arsenal with a good finish is what we need and without it, all is lost.
So lets get behind the lads and show our support, its time to show that we are proud of our lads and the team Harry and Daniel have built. Its now that it counts and its now where the real class of teams show!
