Several sources have suggested that we have sent scouts to watch him (along with Chelsea). Yes this player has managed to score 11 goals in 12 games, but you must remember the name from when he struggled with Hull City in the premier league.
You cannot compare this player to Forlan that left Man Utd to only go on and find his feet in Spain (going on to be a very potent goal scorer). Forlan had talent from day 1 (which is why Fergie bought him), but didn't get the run of games to get his confidence up.
Altidore had 28 games at Hull and scored 1 game, I realise that at 23 he has plenty to learn, but he also struggled Spanish and Turkish leagues. He was even loaned to Xerez (Segunda Division) and didn't even get a game.
We nor Chelsea are in for this player and we must remember that there are plenty of young players in this league that we could be watching.
