Vertonghen Update

Now that AVB is on board and has stated that he wants Vertonghen, talks are again underway between his agent and Ajax. The stickler was always this 15% clause and it is more than likely that this is to be resolved today with Vertonghen free to sign his contract with us over the next few days.

Nervy times at the moment at the Lane! It was inevitable that Vertonghen was coming, it was always about timing.

Vertonghen has said he will leave next year for free if nothing is agreed for this season so it is unlikely that Ajax will want that so the likely hoods that they will have to cave into some or all of the 15% clause (especially seems as Vertonghen has got a sports lawyer involved!).

Either way with the sources I have heard from agreeing with this, expect to see our second signing tied up by early next week. Finally the much needed CB is almost done, onto the strikers
