I know it seems that there are a load of “I told you so's” from me, but so many of the rumours are obviously utter rubbish that it would seem strange to even publish them let alone for people to then believe them.
Villa had a better goal tally this season than last and although he has lost his speed, in La Liga he fits in well. So why would he want to leave current league champions that have comprehensively beaten their closest rivals by a mere 15 points? Also to learn a new style of play moving to a new league is also harder to do at the age of 31 having only ever played in La Liga.
Either way Villa has now come out and stated;
'I have a contract with Barca, and I’ve always said that I’m very happy here.
'I always try to think of the present. I will go to the Confederations Cup and try to play a good role there.
'We’ll need to analyse many things during the summer and then we’ll see. Right now I’m not thinking about anything else than playing football.'
Although these comment specifically do not state that he will definitely not be moving on, he has now broken the silence that he is not in advanced talks with Spurs as the papers had reported. As I say all too often, don't believe everything you see in the papers!
