It now seems as if one of our targets is due to sign.
However a lot of fans are not aware of who he is, so with his "impending" move due to close here is some more information.
Vlad broke onto the scene with Benfica within the youth team and was signed by International in 2008 and made 41 appearances and helped the team to win promotion into Ligue 1. However in 2010 the club dissolved! Panduril Targu Jiu snapped up the defender, although he was close to moving to Steaua (only for the manager not to agree wirth the deal). In 2012 he then was snapped up by Steaua Bucuresti for a reported €700,000 (however Panduril still have a 25% stake in the player for future transfers). Steaua have taken full ownership of the player by paying a further €500,000 to Panduril.
Vlad became known after scoring an overhead kick in the Europa League in October 2012 against Molde. Vlad then scored a long range effort against Ajax. Steaua and Vlad got through to the last 16 of the Champions League (where they were knocked out by Chelsea).
In terms of his international career he made his debut for the senior team in one of Romania's Euro 2012 qualifing match against Luxembourg on 2 September 2011. He has captained Romania to a 1–1 friendly draw over Slovakia on the 14th August.
Although he is not a midfielder he is regarded as highly as the infamous Hadji was, so he must be a good signing!
Let's wait and see what happens, but it seems a good signing once it goes through.
