If you can put a positive spin on a bird pooping on your head you can put a positive spin on the ridiculous excuse for a game of football last night. Not surprisingly AVB put a positive spin on the Maribor game.
If anyone can genuinely tell me that they could even name 1 of the Maribor players before being drawn against them I would be shocked! Thats how bad a team they actually are.
The players quite obviously have no respect for the manager, club or fans! If they did they would have been playing to their potential not what they feel like doing on the day.
I cannot except any excuses for drawing with a team that would struggle in League 1 let alone drawing against supposed Champions League candidate (and I now use that term very loosely).
The grit and creativity has completely disappeared from the team and they seem a shadow of them formers selves. No disrespect to JD but if you were either of the Manchester Teams, or any of our London rivals and had JD as your one fit striker out of 2 you would not accept it. As fans we deserve better and we deserve better performances.
In my last article my comments laid around that JD is not scoring now, Adebayor is not fit and Gallas is too old. Well can someone argue that this statement is false? I doubt it as JD is back to his usual struggling self, Adebayor is not match fit and Gallas could do more from the bench.
I love my team and will support them unti the end, but I will not have these lazy layabouts make a mockery of my club. I honestly couldn't care if they don't like the manager or the other players or even where they live, they are paid to play and playing they are not. If I made a mistake at work as bad as this result I would potentially be fired, not paid well and a "maybe next time you could try and do better", or "there were some good individual performances" (when its a TEAM game).
Now is the time to voice your concern, whether its because the players arent good enough or their performances aren't good enough. We must pull them up from the Abyss that they have dropped into. I refuse to give them a hand I would rather kick them until they get up. They are all paid very well, we have some players that every team in europe were chasing and now mid table premier clubs wouldn't look at them (Walker/ Bale/ Adebayor a small examples).
This January Daniel Levy must provide us the fans with the promise that was originally made in that Modric would be replaced and to take the club forward. Dempsey and Sigurdsson are not the players they were for their former clubs and were panic buys compared to if we had of signed Willian and Moutinho (we can all see the difference in the 4 players). You can almost forgive Levy for not buying another striker if you have the likes of Willian and Moutinho pulling the strings )even Shaun Goater would have scored regularily with the latter 2 supplying).
I realise that times change and that at times players/ managers must leave, but the Chairman must fill those gaps to make sure the club moves forward.
As it stands Spurs are 5th and only 4 points off of 2nd (not bad) but with some of the performances throughout this first half of the season, the way we lost to Chelsea and drawing to Maribor there are huge issues. Supposedly we want to push through the Europa League, we are struggling in the group stages, so there will not be glory there.
Its about time that the fans stood up for what they believe in and thats good football from our highly rated players.
Get behind your club and give the players a kick up the backside! Up your support for the manager and up your fraustration with the players!
