Where is the striker!

Last updated : 30 January 2014 By Hoggg

The main struggle we have had looking at our season collectively was scoring goals. Of recent we have not had the issues, but with Defoe now gone Sherwood has resorted back to a lone striker!

It’s a farce! Levy & Co must be moving heaven and earth to get a striker that is capable of filling Defoe’s shoes. However I have more concern than most as Sherwood’s team has given the game away. Sherwood is blatantly preparing for life without a suitable replacement for Defoe, why else would he be playing 1 up front?

The past two games we have played with a lone striker. Yes you can complain that away from home that should be our formation; however Sherwood said himself that we are an attacking team, so why play with 1 up front. It was obvious that our formation and starting 11 did not work from the start. Forget the past though as it’s right now that is the issue.

2 strikers is what we have (Defoe is gone... where was it again JD America.. that’s right haha), so that means we need a third (we can’t operate with 2).

I am not expecting miracles, but I do not expect to see us linked with more DECENT midfielders. You want to talk about a waste of money we have an abundance of midfielders!

Let’s stop making like ostriches and use our common sense! If we want out of this position we need to open our eyes. Another striker is all we really need or kiss our season goodbye.

Look at the history though people. Levy had an opportunity for the past 3 seasons to save Spurs from missing out and show ambition and every time he has failed. Those that want to stick up for Levy tell me that he hasn’t messed up for the past 3 Jan windows, that he didn’t have an opportunity. We could have had Hazard but Levy wanted to wait til the summer (supposedly) and we missed out on Champions league and Hazard. Stops kidding yourselves Spurs fans, we miss out not just because of team failure, but because of staff failure too. You can’t blame everything on everyone but Levy.

Did Levy manage to keep Bale? No. Did he get a good price.. yes, but did he manage to stop Madrid from raising the money by selling Ozil? NO!

Take this as blaming Levy, but that is not what is meant, what is meant is that fans open their eyes and realise that he has underperformed as much as everyone else. Stop looking away from the issues and mistakes he has made. We are all happy to blame Soldado for not scoring, the linesman for sending Rose off, Dawson for sleeping as Aguero passes him by, Sherwood for playing the wrong team, but where is Levy’s blame? When everyone makes mistakes blame the right people. When we sign Berbatov or no striker come tomorrow ask yourself who’s fault it is. Will it be a good signing? No just look at Saha.

We are fast becoming a laughing stock again and last night was not the team’s fault entirely, but it was a bad start.

I ask all Spurs fans though, blame the right people, if you shout at one you have to shout at all, blame must be shared, is that not a club is about?
