Alexis Sanchez looking forward to reigniting Tottenham feud

Alexis Sanchez has said he's looking forward to going up against Tottenham, his rivals from back in his Arsenal days, again.

The Chilean, now at Marseille, played a number of matches against Spurs during his time in England, with many of them being north London derbies while he was an Arsenal player.

Those clashes generally went well for Alexis - with only one of seven ending in defeat.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League game on Tuesday evening, the forward spoke about the fond memories he has of playing against Tottenham:

“Beating Spurs was a great joy and special and these memories I hold dear to my heart and cherish,” he said as per the Times.

“I have great affection for Arsenal and great memories from my time there, especially the fans. Great memories. Every single player has motivation to play and win. We all want to bring the victory back. In the dressing room, there is a lot of passion.

"Playing in front of the fans with their atmosphere is super important and that will drive us on.”

Sanchez has generally struggled for form since leaving Arsenal, enjoying little success first at Manchester United and then at Inter. He was managed by current Spurs boss Antonio Conte in Italy but described the experience of working under the Italian as being like a 'caged lion'.

“He was a very demanding coach - if you don’t give 100 per cent on the pitch then you are dropped from the next game,” he added.
