Another(!) Spurs Duo Apologise After Training Together During Lockdown

Tottenham Hotspur stars Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko have made a public apology after training together against the government's guidelines.

Ivory Coast international Aurier posted a video on social media, which has since been deleted, which showed him training alongside Sissoko, clearly breaching current guidelines which have been put in place following the coronavirus outbreak.

It's the second time in as many weeks that Tottenham have found themselves in the public eye for breaching the guidelines, with the latest coming just after José Mourinho held a public training session with three first-team players.

"We recognise that as professional footballers we have a responsibility to be role models, particularly during this uncertain period that everyone around the world is facing," Aurier and Sissoko's joint statement read (via the BBC).

"We wish to apologise for not setting the right example here. We must all respect the government advice to minimise the number of lives lost during this pandemic. We cannot thank NHS staff enough for their tireless work at this time and we shall both be making a financial donation to show our support for their efforts."

So far, Tottenham haven't released a statement about the incident either on social media or their official website, but it's understood the club will once again remind the players about what's expected of them during the current climate.

At the time of Mourinho's public training session, a club spokesperson explained that 'players have been reminded to respect social distancing' but Aurier and Sissoko's breach could force Tottenham to take stronger action.

The guidelines which have been brought in clearly instruct all people to remain inside unless you are travelling to and from work, shopping for essential food or medicine, or taking daily exercise, where social distancing of at least two meters needs to be met.
