Antonio Conte hints at long-term Tottenham stay

Antonio Conte has suggested he wants to stay at Tottenham beyond the end of his current contract in 2023.

The early months of Conte's reign were marred by constant speculation that he may not even reach the end of his debut season, but the mood at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has exploded in recent months.

Spurs are back in the Champions League, Harry Kane is enjoying life at the club and chairman Daniel Levy has funded an impressive summer spending spree, and Conte admitted he is enjoying this part of the process.

"We have to continue to build with the players, to continue to improve them," he said. "They have a lot of space for improvement. This is a young team and we can work for many years and fight with the best teams.

"You need to face four competitions in the best possible way. To do this you need a good squad with good quality. We have just started this process."

Conte had been on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer but rejected the opportunity to push for a move in favour of continuing his work with Spurs, who are known to have been very impressed with the Italian's work.

Those in charge have backed the boss with no fewer than six new signings so far: Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Djed Spence, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and a loan deal for Clement Lenglet.
