Anxious wait on cards

The opening weeks of the new Premiership campaign have witnessed a major clampdown on players by referees. But rescinded red cards have similarly become regular features this season, with players being given permission to feature for their club in the next game, despite straight red card decisions equating to an immediate three match ban.

Mido said in The Times newspaper: "I hope the FA cancels my suspension so I can play against Liverpool."

The Egytpian striker could miss the next five weeks of the season if a proposed four match ban (three games plus an extra game for initially refusing to leave the pitch after the sending off) is imposed.

Clive Allen, who’s Tottenham reserve team resume action this evening, could face a disrepute charge for alleged comments made to Styles at half time, following the Mido sending off incident at White Hart Lane.
