It seems that while in one breath newspaper stories are busy describing Dimitar Berbatov as Tottenham's talisman, in the other there's an agenda to unsettle the player and Martin Jol's team, as the season enters a critical phase.
Berbatov said: "My contract is long enough! I was really surprised and disappointed to read it in the newspaper and I want to say that it is not true. I don't think about these things, I concentrate on my career, my football and my goals.
"I am very happy here and it is not correct to put things like that in the newspapers. My primary goal is to enjoy my football and entertain the fans who come to see us."
