The 18 year old will join officially sometime next week, once a medical examination has been passed.

Blondel speaking about the deal admitted that he was excited about the prospect of moving to London and believes he will adjust well to the new lifestyle.

"I will be only two hours from home," he said. "And coach Glenn Hoddle worked at Monaco for some time, and therefore speaks some French, which is also in my favour. I will also have an hour of English lessons every day."

The Belgium U21, also admitted that he didn't expect to break into the 1st team straight away

"I hope to be added to the first team squad," he said. "There I will be able to develop further. A place on the bench would be great."

He also admitted that he rejected offers from Manchester United and German side Schalke to join Spurs.
