Building from the back

Conceding only one goal in three games is one of the few positives to take from the last fortnight. Spurs have kept clean sheets vitally in the away leg of their UEFA Cup first round tie with Slavia Prague and also kept out Fulham at White Hart Lane last Sunday.

Ledley King has returned to the centre of defence in that time. Bolton and Everton had each scored twice against Tottenham as the Londoners struggled for points early on.

The Spurs captain said: “The last two games have been clean sheets and we've been pleased with how we've defended.

“Everyone already knew about Daws and Robbo and Pascal played a full season in the Premiership at Wigan.

“We've been impressed with Benoit. He's not been afraid of putting a foot in.”
