Christian Eriksen Posts Farewell Message to Tottenham Fans After Sealing Move to Inter

Christian Eriksen has posted an emotional farewell message to Tottenham's supporters on social media.

Eriksen has long been linked with a move away from Spurs with both Manchester United and Real Madrid interested in the player in the summer. Inter eventually won the race for his signature however, with the Dane's north London departure finally being confirmed yesterday after a lengthy transfer saga.

"Dear Tottenham fans," the message began.

"I don't know where to start! I didn't have time to say goodbye to everyone, even though I felt like I played a lot of games where everyone said and thought I would be gone the next day.

"I have so many unbelievable memoires over the last six and a half years I was at Spurs."

"I enjoyed being at the training ground every day and playing games in the stadium so much, but sometimes you just want to try something new!

"So, Spurs fans it has been a pleasure to play at your club and hopefully we meet again in the future."

The fee involved in Eriksen's move to Inter is understood to be around £17m, despite the midfielder's contract expiring at the end of the season.

Eriksen leaves Tottenham as one of their best performers over the past few seasons - with his most impressive string of displays coming during the 2016/17 term as Spurs finished second in the Premier League - though his reputation has taken a hit due to some sloppy outings this campaign.

He joins an Inter side that are seeking to win their first Serie A title since 2010. I Nerazzurri are currently second in the table, three points adrift of Maurizio Sarri's Juventus. Antonio Conte has been prolific in bolstering his squad this month, with Eriksen his third signing of the window.

Inter had already completed deals for Manchester United's Ashley Young and Chelsea's Victor Moses before signing the former Ajax playmaker.

Spurs on the other hand have moved also bolstered their squad with the recruitment of both Gedson Fernandes and Steven Bergwijn.
