City without trio for cup clash

Kevin Keegan will be without three players for the Carling Cup third round clash at White Hart Lane. City will be missing David Seaman (rib and hamstring), Sun Jihai (hamstring) and Paolo Wanchope (knee) so will be forced to make changes, although Robbie Fowler and Nicolas Anelka are both likely to have shaken off knocks in time to play. Kevin Ellegaard is likely to play in goal with Capser Schmeichel, son of Peter, on the bench. Michael Tarnat is another injury worry but he is set to be announced in the squad.

City have failed to score in their last four games and drew a blank in the draw at the City of Manchester Stadium in September despite having over 25 shots on goal. This will be only the second meeting of the sides in the League Cup, the last coming in October 1992 with Vinny Samways giving Spurs a one nil win at Maine Road.
