"We put them under pressure a bit but they looked good on the break because they are a very good team.
Jol swapped Ledley King and Michael Dawson at half-time so King played the second half on the right.
"We did better in the second half and our plan was if it was still 1-0 we would try to hit them in the last 10 minutes and it almost paid off," he said.
