Danny Rose & Jose Mourinho in Tottenham Training Ground Bust-Up

Tottenham defender Danny Rose and manager Jose Mourinho have been involved in a bust-up in training, following the player being left out of the Premier League squad for the fixture against Watford.

The left-back has been struggling with form and injuries for a number of months now and, despite starting against Liverpool just over a week ago, he was left out of the most recent squad which drew 0-0 against the Hornets at the weekend.

According to The Daily Mail, Mourinho told Rose that he didn't want to risk him due to his back injury, but the 29-year-old was left unhappy because he believed he was fit enough to be in the squad.

The altercation supposedly occurred on Sunday during a warm-down session, with onlookers claiming that they heard loud voices and serious tension in the air.

The same source also states that a number of Spurs senior players were unimpressed by Rose's behaviour, and the Portuguese manager had to hold a one-on-on chat in private to discuss the events on Monday.

When previously asked about Rose's future, Mourinho said: "Yeah, he is part of my plans. Last match, FA Cup match at home, very offensive team. We wanted to give another chance to Sessegnon to play 90 minutes.

"Today Rose had a little injury in his back, yesterday we made a decision to bring only fit players to a match that we knew was going to be physical."

Rose had similar problems under former manager Mauricio Pochettino at the end of his tenure, with the Argentine beginning to bench the defender for Ben Davies, while Ryan Sessegnon was signed from Fulham as a potential long-term replacement.

Daniel Levy attempted to sell the England international to Watford in the summer, but Rose refused a move and stubbornly declared that he wanted to stay at Spurs until the end of his contract in 2021.

The Lilywhites are set to host Norwich City in the Premier League on Wednesday evening, and will be desperate for the three points after a number of poor results.
