Weekend media reports suggested that the Wales international could be one of the players Hoddle is looking to move out of the club to create funds for further signings.

However, Hoddle has angrily denied these claims today: "This is just total rubbish. Simon's future at Spurs is not an issue," he told the London Evening Standard

"We did not have a meeting about this and Simon has not said anything to me."
