Defoe set to boost England goal tally

Jermain Defoe has been handed a great opportunity to prove to ex-England boss Sven Goran Eriksson that he should have stayed in Germany this summer. On the other hand against minnows Andorra at Old Trafford today, he will be expected to score at least a couple of goals, anything less would be deemed a failure on the Tottenham striker's part.

England without forwards Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen begin their qualification programme for Euro 2008 against Andorra (KO 5pm).
