Defoe To Chelsea?

Win win situation for Spurs as far as I am concerned given that Chelsea are the only club who can afford him, Spurs would realistically get 20 million & a fringe player such as Scott Parker or Damien Duff.

This would give us the money to buy somebody like Shaun Wright Philips with change to spare.

Losing Defoe would undeniably be a massive loss, but more than offset by the money and players received.

Jermain’s point of view may well differ of course, the positives are a huge salary and occasional appearances in the champions league.

The negatives though are huge, he will have to prove himself(Whereas he is lionised at Spurs) he will not get enough games to warrant a championship medal , not to mention to being a fourth choice striker behind Drogba, Gudjonsen & Kezman.

His England (Not to mention club)career would probably go the same way as Scott Parker, Glen Johnson, Joe Cole, Wayne Bridge etc.

So while Chelsea now have the financial muscle to purchase anyone and everyone, it is not necessarily that attractive to ambitious rather than mercenary players which is why the likes of Gerrard, Henry, Viera etc turned them down.

Whichever way it goes, am not going to lose any sleep over this as either we get to keep a fantastic player or get 20M plus a very good player!
