Freund facing season KO

The former Germany international has been a key part of Glenn Hoddle's side this season but suffered the injury in a collision with Frank Lampard in Wednesday's Worthington Cup semi-final first-leg defeat.
Freund left the pitch at Stamford Bridge on a stretcher and the initial fears have now been confirmed after the 31-year-old underwent an MRI scan.
It is the second time the player has suffered a terrible knee injury after sustaining the same injury to his left knee playing for Germany during the Euro 96 semi-final against England five years ago.
Freund's injury means that Tim Sherwood is likely to get an extended run in the side and prove he has a Tottenham future.
The former Blackburn skipper has been linked with a move to Rangers recently but he is the only alternative to Freund for the midfield anchor role and, with a host of important games coming up, Glenn Hoddle is unwilling to deplete his squad.
