The German midfielder's contract at White Hart Lane ends in the summer and Spurs boss Glen Hoddle has told Freund he won't be offering him an extension on his current deal.

"Everyone knows by now that the club has decided not to offer me a new contract at the end of my current deal," Freund told the clubs website, www.spurs.co.uk

"Of course, I am disappointed, I would be lying if I didn't say that, but at this stage all I want to do is concentrate on the rest of the season.

The midweek home defeat to Newcastle left Spurs in eigth place in the Premiership table - just a point behind Liverpool in sixth spot.

"Qualifying for Europe would be the perfect finish for me. I know what has happened, I know I am leaving at the end of the season but I will do the same as I always have - give my all in the games, work hard, hopefully I will play a part and we will qualify for Europe," added Freund.

"It is possible that the qualification might go down to seventh spot and we are definitely capable of that."
