Graham Poll, a Spurs fan? No chance.

When Graeme Souness labelled referee Graham Poll a Spurs fan in Blackburn's one-nil win two weeks ago his selective memory had obviously kicked back in to overdrive. I would like to take Mr. Souness back to Cardiff, the League Cup Final in February 2002. Rovers had a two one lead but were under all sorts of pressure from Spurs who had already missed some good chances. In the last minute, a corner was only half cleared and the ball dropped to Teddy Sheringham who skipped round Martin Taylor whose trailing leg caught the now Portsmouth striker. Sheringham went down, a clear penalty and a chance for two-two and extra-time. Poll, who was perfectly placed waved play-on.

Glenn Hoddle could have been mistaken for thinking that Poll was a Blackburn fan after that decision, but he didn't, he took it on the chin. As for Graeme Souness he decided that Mr. Poll was a Tottenham supporter on the back of some free-kicks for pushing and a couple of strange advantages. Graham Poll is not a Spurs fan, far from it.
