Harry Kane gives his thoughts on Jose Mourinho sacking

Harry Kane has given his thoughts on Jose Mourinho's sacking by Tottenham earlier in the week, stating that he was 'surprised' by the decision.

Despite Tottenham's recent struggles under Mourinho - the club have lost 10 Premier League games already this season - and fan's disgruntlement at the style of play that had been adopted, Kane was a huge benefactor of the former manager's approach. As with the burden of scoring and creating goals placed solely on the shoulder's of Son Heung-min and Kane, he thrived scoring 21 league goals and assisting 13.

Speaking to Sky Sports in a recent interview, Kane has revealed that he, unsurprisingly (given the numbers above) had a 'great' relationship with Mourinho:

"I had a great relationship with Jose, I wish him all the best for whatever his next job is, but he knows as we know football can be cut-throat and we just have to look forward.

Kane has also revealed the details of the day Mou was sacked by the club, stating that he was only told the news ten minutes before it was announced to the public:

"I was surprised - I'll be totally honest. I came in that morning and probably found out 5-10 minutes before it was announced.

"A lot of the focus was on the Carabao Cup final and preparing for that but, look, it's football. I've been here now where a couple of managers have been sacked and, as a player now, I don't think you ever expect the boss to be sacked but it's part of the game, you have to deal with it."

Along with discussing Mourinho, Kane addressed the Super League's implosion:

"I liked the outcome of it. I didn't quite like the idea of it if I'm honest. I can totally understand the fans' point of view. From a lot of people's point of view, it wasn't quite right. It's obviously been ended for now. I'm proud of the fans for sticking up for what they believe it. I am glad of what the outcome has become.

"For football in general it's good the way it is. The competitiveness is an important part of football and that's the reason we play football."

Late fitness test permitting, Kane will lead Tottenham out at Wembley for the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
