Harry Kane has been urged to leave the Tottenham if he wants to progress his career; or win trophies.
Spurs legend Teddy Sheringham has warned Kane that he may not win the trophies he deserves if he stays put at the club he's been at since the age of 11, encouraging him to consider a departure if things don't turn around soon.
Sheringham, who left Spurs to join Manchester United in 1997 and went on to win seven major trophies, has warned Kane that he has to consider this relative brevity of a footballer's career.
Speaking on Sky Sports' The Football Show, Sheringham said "There are similarities (to my situation), but you have to look at Tottenham and where they are now compared to where they were when I was playing for them.
"The ambition had been sucked out of the club when I was playing for them. We weren't really going places, at least they are getting into the top four, they are challenging for things, they were in the Champions League final not so long ago.
"He has got to weigh up his situation, does he want to leave? Are there going to be top players coming to Tottenham to play with him or is he going to have to go to elsewhere to play with top players?"
"At the moment, I would say his career at Tottenham - I know they haven't won anything - but his career has been going steadily forward. I think it might be at a crossroads. If they haven't won anything or they don't look like they are going forwards, then there could be changes.
"Harry has only got one career and he wants to win things. My advice would be 'you only get one career, Harry, make sure you make the most of it'."
England captain Kane, who will be turning 27 years old in July, has previously hinted at leaving Spurs if the club isn't going in the right direction.
While Tottenham have shown no intention of selling their main man, Manchester United and Manchester City have been credited with an interest in his services; as have some top European clubs.
