Hoddle: A chance missed

Last updated : 03 November 2002 By SpursMAD
Spurs have now failed to beat their London rivals in 22 matches since the foundation of the Premiership and were denied on this occasion only by the brilliance of Chelsea keeper Carlo Cudicini, who made three brilliant saves to deny Spurs a goal.

Hoddle said: "The way we played in the second half, that was a chance missed.

"We started a bit slowly in the first half but our momentum got better and better and I felt we should have won the game.

"We had a purple patch, but couldn't get that elusive goal, and the performance of their goalkeeper was wonderful - for them," he added.

"Derbies are more passionate and there are a lot of them if you are in London. There is rivalry between the fans because you have to go into work the next day and stand next to your friends.

"This was hard fought, but played in the right spirit."
