Keane scored twice and a third from Davies wrapped up the victory at the Lane and took Spurs up to 3rd place in the Premiership.

Hoddle said: "I am delighted for Robbie to get two goals after opening his account at Blackburn - I thought he looked lively from the first minute until the last.

"If he keeps playing like that and has the hunger he showed today, then his goal tally will go up very quickly.

"He is a wonderful talent. When he came here we said he needed to find a home, because he had been drifting a bit from club to club at the age of 22, and we feel he has now found a home. He is enjoying his football and I am sure he is going to go on from here.

"Simon is playing with bundles of confidence. He played superbly well for Wales on Wednesday and what I like about him is in his last three internationals he has been the star man and then has come back and continued his form.

"That shows an excellent temperament and there is no ego about Simon. He is a level-headed lad who keeps his feet on the floor and is not going to get carried away. He has had a good upbringing and we like to feel we are helping him along as a player.

"There were some very good individual performances today and a solid performance as a team. There are ten games gone and we are in a nice position. There is still a lot of work to be done but we have got a lot of talent which has been unavailable but it is coming back slowly and surely."
