Hoddle Takes A Side Swipe At Levy.

Don’t know how much credence to give this, as usually you would take this story with a pinch of salt, but in this case perhaps critical mass would be more appropriate.

Apparently bids of 55M & 65M have been tabled and quite rightly have been dismissed out of hand.

Hoddle feels that Joe Lewis is “Looking to get out” while Levy would not be able to take the pressure.

He also feels Levy made a “Rash” decision to get rid of him even though we were going backwards, near the bottom of the table and paying extortionate amounts of money for journeymen footballers.

Glen thinks the sole reason for this was the fact that he was unable to pair Keane & Kanoute together, glossing over the fact that we were leaking goals left, right & center, had a powder puff midfield & a defense perpetually operating in headless chicken mode.

He also seems to have overlooked the fact that he spent 30M+ on Dean Richards, Gary Doherty, Bunjevcevic, Poyet, Sheringham (2nd time round), Korsten, Steven Ferguson, Dave Beasant, Yannick Kamanan, Acimovic, Blondel, Lars Hirsfield, Helder Postiga etc.

None of the above of course turned out to be any good to Spurs or any other Premiership club for that matter and nearly all sold for a massive loss or given away to anybody who wanted them.

Since himself & David Pleat departed Spurs forays into the transfer have been much more successful, and all players have either improved the squad or been sold at a profit.

True we have not yet got the team we want but at least the quality of the components has improved.
(Paul Robinson 1.5M, Jermain Defoe 6M, Naybet Free,Edman 1.5M, Parmot 1M? Atouba 1.5M, Ziegler 1M,Davenport,Defendi,Mendes,Carrick,Silva etc.)

Just to put things in perspective under David Pleat we offered Forest 6M + Rohan Ricketts for Andy Reid, Arensen tabled a flat 3M take it or leave it, an offer not bettered by anyone else in the Premiership.

Frighteningly under Pleat we would have probably ended up paying Forests their asking price of 10M, now they would gladly settle for 5M.

He also seems to have not noticed that the perpetual 10 strong injury list seems to have cleared up since Levy revamped the medical team.

So hopefully the Levy/Arensen/Jol/Crowe team will be around for some time to come as they clearly represent our best chance of success, barring Abramovich levels of investment.

Personally I prefer my memories of Hoddle the player, not the manager.

You wonder what the Wolves fans make of this?.
