After the 4-0 home drubbing to Blackburn, season tickets were seen to be thrown onto the White Hart Lane pitch and a chorus of "You're not fit to wear the shirt" rang around the stadium.

But Hoddle is convinced he his the man to get it right and just wants time to succeed.

"Two years is a short period of time in which to get things right," said Hoddle, after thr game.

"I convinced I can get things right and go on and be successful at this club.

"This result was a poor reflection on us and a disappointing way to finish the season, without a shadow of a doubt. We know it's been a frustrating year for the fans and I understand their frustration.

"There's no-one more frustrated than me and the players in the dressing room. We've also got to realise there have been 25 years of frustration here. Seventh is the highest this club has finished in the Premiership."
