Hoddle: We can improve

Hoddle makes a tactical change during the game with West Ham
Spurs allowed West Ham fight back twice even though they were a man short following Ian Pearce's 70th minute red card.

Hoddle said: "I'm absolutely delighted with the three points but we made hard work of it. We didn't get into any rhythm in the first half and at the beginning it was poor.

"Something was missing, we were not quite in sync but we changed it in the second half. It was one of those days when we had to do something to get a victory.

"We can improve on the performance but we got the result. A 2-2 would have been very disappointing but to West Ham's credit they kept on going.

"We've got some work to do on closing a game out but we battled hard and kept going. Anthony Gardner is growing in stature and he is getting better and better.

"He has got a long way to go but where he can end up who knows? He has talent, pace, height and strength and just needs more experience."
