The 21-year-old's remarkable season has led to a maiden senior call-up and the lines being blurred when it comes to his summer plans.
Kane played a key part in England Under-21s' qualification for the European Championships in the Czech Republic, but Spurs are concerned about burn-out should he feature this summer.
The fact they plan to take the striker on a money-spinning, post-season tour to Australia harms their case somewhat and is a subject England boss Hodgson broached with Spurs counterpart Pochettino on Thursday.
The pair took the opportunity brought by England training at Hotspur Way to discuss matter, while Hodgson revealed talks have also been held with chairman Daniel Levy.
"I have spoken to (Pochettino) today," he said
"Those discussions with Harry and the Under-21 team are more a question of discussions he has and will have with Gareth (Southgate, Under-21s manager).
"If Gareth makes it clear he wants Harry to be in the Under-21s, I am sure he will.
"I have also spoken to Daniel Levy not so long ago about the situation with the club.
"The so-called problematic tour they will have at the end of the season which for me is not a problematic tour at all.
"I think, speaking to Mauricio, they are very wise to go for a week at the end of the season when it's quite relaxed and you don't have to really work your players hard.
"If that means you don't have to go flying around at the start of the season that seems to be a very wise move
The FA are perfectly comfortable with that."
It certainly seems a change of tack from last week, when Hodgson criticised Tottenham for taking Kane on a 21,000-mile post-season trek if they thought he required a rest.
"I would be surprised if they aren't (taking him)," Hodgson said on the eve of the Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania.
"The thing about these tours, which are commercial tours to satisfy contracts made with big sponsors, is they want the big-name players to be there and he is a big-name player.
"All of those things are so easily soluble
It's always a question of putting Harry in focus.
"He will know what is best for him but of course everyone at Tottenham and the rest of the country will have to accept that we believe that having done all this work to get the Under-21s to get to the finals, it's only normal he will want to play in the finals.
"It's normal that we will want him there because we want to win the competition."
