How Monday could be a defining day for Tottenham

Brazilian midfield powerhouse Paulinho has signed, and it is reported that David Villa might not be far behind him. The Spaniard is extremely keen to join AVB?s Spurs and it is just the fee left to agree between the Lilywhites and Barca. Under Armour, Tottenham?s kit manufacturer, have also announced the date of kit release; it is on Monday (the 8th July).

The 24 year-old box-to-box midfielder stated in a tearful press conference earlier in the week that he had decided to leave Corinthians to play a higher quality of football at White Hart Lane, and he arrived in London yesterday morning for a medical. It is expected that he will sign a contract at Tottenham before leaving for a brief holiday, before linking up with the squad for pre-season. The general consensus is that the North London club are waiting until Monday to announce the transfer, to tie-in with kit release, in the hope that many people will be inspired to buy a ?Paulinho 8? shirt.

The 31 year-old Spanish forward visited Tottenham?s newly refurbished, state of the art training facilities at Hotspur Way earlier this year and was blown away by what he saw. At some point in the last month, he decided that Tottenham Hotspur would be the best place for him to further his footballing career. However, the clubs are still negotiating the finer details of the fee, and so the deal is not yet finalised in its entirety. There is still a positive feeling at Spurs that they will get their man, and the ideal situation would be that they announce it on Monday. Creating a hype around new signings and kit release could encourage many fans to purchase a shirt, with either Paulinho or Villa on the back.

So with the two transfers extremely close to completion ? if not already complete ? then Monday 8th July could become a defining day in the season of Tottenham Hotspur. By close of play Monday, they could have two new signings and a new kit to play with for the new season. There are even growing rumours that Gareth Bale may announce a contract renewal next week. The future is looking bright at White Hart Lane.
