Despite remonstrations by Bolton’s Stelios indicating he had been victim of foul play, he was able to continue straight away without having suffered damage of any sort following the incident that was overlooked by referee Howard Webb.

As King got up from a challenge with the Greek international on Monday night, the England player’s foot had appeared to make contact with the floored player’s face.

But a FA spokesman told the Daily Mail, "There will be no disciplinary action as there was nothing to suggest the incident was intentional."
