Is Defoe good to go?

Last updated : 01 April 2004 By Jonathan Blain
Nobody can deny that the one bright spot from last night's poor show by England in yet another defeat against Sweden was the performance of Jermain Defoe. The Spurs striker got his chance after only 10 minutes when Darius Vassell was forced off due to an ankle injury and he showed Sven Goran Eriksson exactly what he is made of. Defoe held up the ball well, used the ball sensibly and showed just how dynamic he can be with the ball at his feet, running at defenders. However, Spurs fans know he is good enough to be part of the squad that goes to Portugal, but do you think Sven will pick him?
