Is Jol ready to make room for a Robben?

The Daily Mirror have reported: Spurs boss Martin Jol is ready to make a shock January bid to take winger Arjen Robben off Chelsea's hands. The Dutch international has fallen out of favour with Blues boss Jose Mourinho and has failed to reproduce his form of last year when he electrified the Premiership.

But Jol has told The Sun newspaper: "The only thing we would love to have is an improvement with the younger players we have."

"If Dawson can be a better player — then Jenas can be a better player as well as Lennon, Routledge and Mido. If they can fulfil their potential, then we’ll be there. If not, we need another season. It is as clear as that, as the other players are up to being in the top six.

"Until now, they’ve done well. Jenas has scored two goals for us — one more than he had done in the last 16 months. Lennon came out of nothing, Mido’s done well and Dawson’s been good again.

"It’s exciting when we play a first half like we did against Arsenal and you know you’re better than last year. But if you don’t have a lot of players with scoring records, you know you can’t be up there. That is what I told Jenas and Mido we need more goals from them."
