Freddie Kanoute is set to be out for two months after the full extent of his injury became apparent. The Frenchman was stretchered off after a 'tackle' by Muzzy Izzet in the win at Leicester on Sunday and the club were concerned that it may have been a break. Their fears were slightly eased when scans showed it was not that severe, but now the already acknowledged ligament damage has been coupled with severe bruising to the bone. David Pleat has admitted his frustration at the timing of the injury but is confiednt that the two month estimate will be 'the maximum'. He also noted that Kanoute tends to be a quick healer. The injury came at a time when the striker was in a rich vein of form, with five goals in six games and he stated that while the timing was a blow, he will remain patient and is confident he will play again this year.
