Keane strops like a Wayne

Keane watched from the bench as Irish strike partner Clinton Morrisson was introduced as a substitute for Birmingham City at the weekend.

Jol opted for power away from home against Birmingham’s back pairing of Kenny Cunningham and Matthew Upson. Keane, who had come off the bench to score important goals in each of Tottenham’s last three home games in the Premiership, showed his frustration storming towards the dressing room kicking drinks bottles on his way. Twenty minutes later and similar scenes were unravelling in south London, where Crystal Palace’s Wayne Routledge was throwing his shirt to the ground as he left the pitch at full-time after sections of the Selhurst Park faithful booed the player’s contribution.

Palace manager Iain Dowie and Eagles supremo Simon Jordan are holding out a small glimmer of hope the winger may still reverse his decision to leave the club in the summer. Spurs bid up to £2.5m for the England Under-21 player in January. However, it seems more and more likely that a deal between the clubs will be decided by a tribunal whether Palace, who remain inside the bottom three, are consigned to spending next season outside the Premiership or if they can survive the remaining six weeks of the campaign.

Jordan last week criticised Routledge for opting to turn his back on the club that was repsonsible for raising him from schoolboy level.
