Keeping one eye on Europe

King has been a rock at the back all season for Spurs

Only one of this weekend’s two FA Cup semi finals will have been played by the time Spurs kick off at Anfield on Saturday. The identity of the finalists at Cardiff in May will help determine whether finishing in the top six or top seven is good enough for entry to the UEFA Cup.

With their home form assured at present, Tottenham’s three remaining away fixtures could prove decisive for King and the rest of the team’s push for the chance of European adventure.

"It is down to us as a team out on the pitch to show the desire. You can talk as much as you like, but it is out there on the pitch that we need to do it," said King.

The England youngster also echoed the words of his coach Martin Jol. The Dutchman feels his side need to pick up at least 12 points from the six remaining Premiership games of this campaign.

"You have got to show a strong mental attitude. You have to give it everything, you can't hope to get there, you've got to go out, do your job and pick up the points to get there. You can't hope to sneak into a high position, you know it won't happen - you have to show desire and a real will to get the points," added King.
