Leeds United Preparing £15m Bid for Tottenham's Juan Foyth

Newly-promoted Leeds United are lining up a £15m bid for Tottenham Hotspur central defender Juan Foyth.

Foyth was signed by former manager Mauricio Pochettino, and was believed to be a long-term replacement for ageing Belgian centre-backs Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

However, the move hasn't exactly gone to plan for the young defender. The Argentina international has played just 67 minutes in the Premier League this season, and has largely struggled to impress whenever he's been given a chance in north London.

Foyth has ten caps for Argentina

Many reports have linked Foyth with a move away from Spurs, and Leeds United have emerged as potential suitors for the 22-year old.

According to The Sun, Marcelo Bielsa's side are preparing to make a move for the Argentine - whether they secure the signature of Ben White or not.

Foyth has been linked with loan moves to Leeds as far back as 2018, with the defender himself previously describing Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa as "one of the best coaches in the world", adding that "it would be nice to be coached by him" (via Talksport).

Ben White had an outstanding season for Leeds

If Foyth were to replace White, he'd certainly have big boots to fill. White spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Leeds from Brighton and Hove Albion, and impressed greatly as he played every single minute in their title-winning season.

The Yorkshire side have made no secret of their desire to keep White at Elland Road. However, should they make a bid, Leeds will face strong competition from other top flight clubs, with Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Leicester City all said to be interested in the young Englishman.

White is currently under contract at Brighton and Hove Albion, and manager Graham Potter has said that he wants to integrate the youngster into the Seagulls' first team next season.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Potter said: "He's our player, he's got a long contract with us. I have known Ben for a while, I have been aware of him, wanted to try and sign him when we (Potter and his staff) were at Swansea.

"I know about his qualities. He's a fantastic player. He's done brilliantly at Leeds and helped them get promotion - that's fantastic for them, fantastic for him - but he's our player and we're looking forward to working with him."
