Lennon injury as bad as first feared

The injury Aaron Lennon suffered in training seven days ago looked as serious then as it does now. At no point was the club going to risk playing the England youngster in last nights UEFA Cup tie against Slavia if he wasn't 100%.

Luckily the player received the best possible advice not to play if he wasn't feeling completely comfortable even though he would obviously have wanted to have a part in Tottenham's first European adventure for seven years, if possible.

Martin Jol on the final decision, said: "We were taking a cautious approach with Aaron but after training it was quite clear that he certainly wouldn't be able to play and the medics have re-assessed his injury."
