Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal wants forward Steven Bergwijn to join Ajax 'as soon as possible'.
The 24-year-old has failed to hold down a starting spot during his two-and-a-half seasons at Tottenham after his fast start to life in the Premier League, where he scored impressive goals against Manchester City and Manchester United in his first few months in England.
Antonio Conte has repeatedly insisted that he sees Bergwijn as cover for Harry Kane in a central striking role, with Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura playing most of Spurs' minutes from out wide. In his 83 games for the north London side, Bergwijn has scored just eight goals.
The Dutch forward has stressed recently that he is looking to leave Tottenham immediately amid interest from Ajax, who tried but failed to take him off Spurs' hands in January.
And Van Gaal has urged Bergwijn to make the move to Amsterdam, telling a press conference: "If it’s up to me, Steven Bergwijn may join Ajax as soon as possible."

Bergwijn scored the opener in the Netherlands' recent 4-1 demolition of neighbours Belgium but is eyeing regular game time ahead of the Oranje's return to the World Cup stage.
Van Gaal's men travel to Wales on Wednesday as their Nations League campaign continues. They then end the international window with home games against Poland and another meeting with Wales.
