Magpies chairman denies Carr rumours

Sunday papers were reporting a £5million fee had been agreed between the two club's for the Republic of Ireland full-back, but Shepherd was quick to dismiss these reports.

"I sign the cheques at Newcastle and I can categorically state that there is no deal for Carr," said the Magpies chairman.

"It's absolute nonsense. The deal is total fantasy."
