Midfield attacking option works a treat

Perhaps last season the same feat wouldn’t have been achieved, but new signings from the continent Davids, along with Teemu Tainio have made the team more solid this season.

Spurs coach Martin Jol told the Daily Mirror: "We lacked a bit of experience in midfield and Edgar has given us that. He is an unbelievable professional and will play wherever you like. I wouldn't have done that when I played! I wanted to play in my favourite spot."

Jol’s first substitution came after Spurs pulled a goal back. The Dutchman changed Pedro Mendes for Tainio and brought Davids in from the wing.

"I told him at half-time that I might switch him and he wanted to move inside and it proved he was right because he is a central midfield player," Jol added.

"I have generally played in the centre of midfield during my career - that is what I am used to. For me, playing in the centre is much easier," said Davids.
