Mido aching to prove himself

However, considering his one start did produce two goals, albeit against Portsmouth, Martin Jol will surely consider starting with the striker, who turned 22 this week, against Fulham on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest, the most recent visitors to White Hart Lane put most their team behind the ball up to the point when Jermain Defoe’s strike from a set piece on the stroke of half-time forced them to change their tactics.

Fredi Kanoute, sent off against Bolton and major contributor to Tottenham’s Carling Cup exit, was frustrated by the Championship side's approach, so Mido came on in place of the Mali international for the final 25 minutes.

Kanoute was unable to break down the Forest defence

Ahmed Hossam Wofsy "Mido" told his official site, Mido99.CoM.

''I want to prove what I am capable of, like I did against Portsmouth in my first match with Tottenham.
''The Fulham match is a relatively hard game and I am fully focussed. I feel that I have a duty to perform well. The expectations are now high so I want to score and put in a good performance, even better than my debut."

Tottenham coach Martin Jol would dearly love to see the back of winter and may even choose to start with Mido alongside Robbie Keane on Saturday. "It is always good to start like that but one swallow does not make a summer

"It's early days. Now, can Mido live up to the same standards as he delivered on that day?" said Jol.
