Mido: I'm loving it

As the Egyptian reflected on the racist chants aimed at him by West Ham fans and his time in London, Jon Brodkin ponders in The Guardian today, it's plain to see that stability and quiet would suit Mido well.

"I didn't hear the taunts during the game. I heard about it after the game. It’s very silly to say this kind of stuff. I have seen that their manager [Alan Pardew] has apologised to me and I really appreciate that but I don't really want to talk about it that much because I don't want to create a problem out of nothing, and for me it is really nothing.

"The most important thing for me is to stay at one club for four or five years and I think Tottenham is the perfect club for me. I love everything here - the stadium, crowds, training ground, people, the way we train and play. I like English football and the life here and my family like the life here, so I am happy."

Mido had to prove over the summer that he was willing to knuckle down after lacking form and physical condition. His goal and contribution in the 1-1 draw against West Ham last weekend impressed and scoring 14 or 15 in the league is his target.

Even though it was not one of the team's most convincing displays of the season it was looking good for three points as Spurs headed into stoppage time against the Hammers, with Mido's 15th minute header the only advantage.

It had been a piece of quick thinking by Mido when he seized the chance to latch onto Michael Dawson's high and possibly hopeful ball forward to lift his header over the stranded Shaka Hislop.

"I saw the keeper coming out of his goal and I thought it was a good idea to play it with one touch. I took the risk because he could have got back, but he didn't and I was lucky."

"The most difficult thing to take was conceding in the last minute. I have experienced enough in the Premier League now to know that it is not enough to be 1-0 up - you have to score two or three. After you score you must also continue to play at the same level."

"We conceded from a set piece again and we must work on this part of the game. We were playing at home and to let in a goal like that was very disappointing."
