No Left Back For Saturday.

The experiment of Gardner in the left back slot failed miserably at Fratton Park on Monday, & most of Pompey’s attacks originated down our left. (Atouba was not faultless either).

Given that our 3rd choice LB Ziegler does not have much reserve or Premiership experience, Jacques may well decide to re-shuffle the back four.

One option would be to play Ledley at LB and Gardner at CB, Gardner is a perfectly good CB (Not as good as Ledley, Granted) but sometimes gets the decision making process completely wrong, playing alongside the vocal Naybet, this might not be such a problem.

Ledley on the other hand is OK at LB and reads the game well, something
Gardner cannot do.

Between Mendes, Davies, Davis, Brown, Redknapp, Carrick & JJ should be able to sort out a decent enough midfield.

Fingers crossed that Erik returns soon as he has been our best LB in ages
