The club's official website reports that, ‘Edgar Davids feels the high-class of opposition we have encountered has left us in optimistic mood going into our opening Premiership fixture of the season.'
He said: "I don't think we could have hoped for a better pre-season. We won almost every game except one, which we drew (at Borussia Dortmund) so that was very good."
"The new signings have settled very well and they have already left their mark," the Dutch midfielder added.
Mark Yeates, who signed a two-year contract extension with the club this summer, has joined Championship outfit Hull City on loan for the season.
